Keeping Up With Flickr Via RSS
If you have more than a handful of contacts on Flickr, you'll have a hard time keeping up with all the new photos uploaded to their streams. It's probably not the end of the world if you miss a few photos here and there, but it's nice to have the ability to keep up with certain people of interest.
I recently started subscribing to the RSS feeds of a small group of close friends and other people whose photos I don't want to miss. It's really great not having to remember to visit every single person's Flickr stream each and every day. Now, I just let the photos drop into my feed reader and I can quickly decide if I want to see it larger or leave a comment on the Flickr page.
You can subscribe to people's Flickr feeds at the bottom of their photo stream — you should see something similar to the image above. You can also subscribe to the group pools or specific sets from your contacts.

November 14, 2008I use this too – I also follow the ‘new photo’s from your contacts’ page, which gives you up to 10 I think of every of your contacts multiple times a day, plus I follow comments on my own pictures – makes it quick an easy to see if someone is 😀

And…. a lot of other photoblogs and sites as well. It just saves me a lot of time checking out new stuff.

November 15, 2008Unfortunately you will only see their public, “safe” photos in the RSS feed. So you will still miss photos that are for contacts only or marked moderate/restricted.

November 15, 2008I had no idea you could download a feed from personal Flickr profiles. Are there any websites out there which display the feeds of select profiles, filtering out unprofessional photography?

@Air Jordans: don’t know, but wouldn’t it be better to do that yourself, it sound like what you wan’t is a subjective point of view. Why let others choose what images you should appriciate?

November 23, 2008If you run windows and this article concerning rss feed streaming interests you then do check out the Flock 2.0 browser. It allows one to stream new rss feed content from places such as flikr, youtube, myspace, facebook etc. directly into it’s media bar. Lots of other consolidation in it as well. Not affiliated other than being a happy user.
