December Challenge: Day 2 – Brian Auer
I made this self portrait by shooting myself 5 times, displaying the last shot on the screen each time. You can't really see the 1st shot way back there, but it's in there. This is where I spend most of my time — tucked in the corner of the living room in front of the computer.

December 2, 2007Very cool. That monitor kicks some serious ass.

December 2, 2007I love it — It’s a Samsung SyncMaster 226cw. The color, contrast, and sharpness are spot on. Not to mention that it’s a 22″ widescreen perfect for full-screen photo editing. Though now I find myself craving a 24 incher…

December 2, 2007Brian, this portrait rocks! Very creative.
I must ask, how many “levels” did you go?
Brian Auer
December 2, 2007Thanks Trevor — 5 levels deep. But you can’t really see the last one even at full res.

December 3, 2007Wow, an out-of0the-box one! Interesting photo 🙂

December 3, 2007Out-of-the-box, I meant.

December 3, 2007It proves that even in your own home you can find creativity…
Nice one Brian well done

December 3, 2007That’s a funny way for taking self-portraits. 🙂
Is it just me or is this website much slower since it was down for some time? I think it used to be much faster…
Brian Auer
December 3, 2007I don’t know Libeco, the site seems to load OK for me. Anybody else having problems? It could be that my host is still working out the details of the hardware upgrade.

December 3, 2007This morning after I hit the ‘submit comment’ button it took about 30 seconds to process. Now it seems a little better, but still I find it a lot slower tham I’m used to.
I did two quick tests with compltely different results:

Perhaps the fact that I’m visiting from the Netherlands has something to do with it, maybe other users from Europe (or any non US country) can tell their experience?

December 3, 2007I just got word from Media Temple that they’re aware of the latency issues and they’re working with the hardware engineers to resolve the problems. The new hardware upgrade fixed some existing problems but brought on a few unexpected ones. So I guess we’ll just have to bear with it for the time being, but things should speed up in the near future — these guys are really good about getting things like this fixed.

December 10, 2007cool shot – it reminded me of the HP commercials where people are photographed holding the same photograph of themselves.
Brian Auer
December 10, 2007Oh yeah! I’ve almost forgotten about those — that would be another neat idea for a portrait.
